Insatiable Intern Marie Walsh concocts winning Ballpark Bonbon

Why am I not shocked to discover that my Insatiable Intern Marie Walsh has dreamed up a prize-winning chocolate. Spend any time around this office and longings for chocolate are inevitable.

It seems that when Bespoke Chocolates, neuroscientist turned chocolatier Rachel Zoe Insler's cozy chocolate shop, announced its Design Your Own Signature Chocolate Contest last month, Marie quietly began to obsess about chocolate. She brooded and brainstormed trying to get beyond images of Bespoke's Pretzel-Covered Sea-Salted Caramels, her favorite.

Bespoke's Pretzel-Covered Sea-Salted Caramel, Hazelnut Praline, and Strawberry Balsamic bonbons.

Then inspiration struck. “I was at Yankee Stadium watching our guys winning as usual. I had a cold beer in one hand and a bag of salty peanuts in the other and it came to me. Ballpark Bonbon: beer infused ganache, encased in a crisp chocolate shell, rolled in crushed honey-roasted peanuts, a celebration of winning.”

Bespoke agreed. It named Ballpark Bonbon one of three final contenders. The winner will be chosen by a trio of judges: Johnny Iuzzini (executive pastry chef of Jean Georges and author of Dessert Fourplay), Gabriella Gershenson (editor of the Eat Out section and Feed Blog at Time Out New York), and The Amateur Gourmet Adam Roberts. Bespoke Chocolates fans can sample and vote too at Bespoke Chocolates, 6 Extra Place, Wednesday, June 9th between 4pm-7pm. RSVP at info@bespokechocolates.com.
